![]() Understand that the difficulty settings are somewhat arbitrary - one team of developers will have a different idea of what 'hard' should be like from another team, and they are human and make mistakes. Flow state is a constant tightrope walk between boredom (where your skill is in excess of the challenge) and frustration (where the challenge is in excess of your skill). Because most games involve unique skills, and practice makes perfect, you won't necessarily want to play every game on the same difficulty, and you won't want to play the same game on the same difficulty if you play it for a second time. ![]() To achieve flow state, the challenge you set yourself needs to match perfectly with your current ability. When you manage it, you'll enjoy yourself more, and you won't have any room to think about your ego because you will be fully engaged and challenged by playing the game. So as a gamer, instead of thinking too hard about beating games (which any old fool can do will enough practice and patience) focus on trying to maximise your flow. That's where gaming gets really really fun. Instead of thinking about beating the game, think about trying to achieve 'flow state', that perfect balance where you really get into the zone, where you're satisfied by your progress but you're having to be fully engaged to do it, where time seems to fly because you're so into the game. Try to reason yourself first to measure your success as a gamer by a different metric. But you have to really want to change your mind to do it. If you've thought yourself into this hole, you can think your way out of it again. You just get constantly healed, while in combat once you get below a certain level of health just back up (now you can roll) heal with your passive Gourmet and get back into action. It will heal you for 20 minutes when you eat something. Now if you want to take death March look like toddler difficulty even further, put 1 skill in Gourmet. Although be warned it will get boring, unless you’re fighting groups of 20 dudes, that never gets old. If you know how to dodge and hit, plus those skills, you’ll breeze through combat. The game will be stupidly easy and you will feel combat somewhat redundant. Once you level up some more you’ll have access to skills that instant kill on hit. don’t leave that part until you are able to parry and dodge, NOT ROLL!, dodge! It’s the O key on PlayStation. Start the game and go to the first scenes of the tutorial, where you fight with wood swords.
